This year, 2024, I’ve am having a Big-Bang moment as my worlds are coming into their own. I have been an artist my entire life. In my adult life, business positions have dropped into my lap, although not Art related in the slightest. I have been a Jack-Of-All-Trades, as they say, mastering them as I crawled my way through middle management. Many can relate. I look at every career and each job as Continuing Education in my adulthood. I took something important from each of them and can say it has helped me a lot in my life.

‘And So It Begins…’

I mentioned in this previous post about how decisions I made about my life in certain moments completely changed my trajectory. I have come back full circle to that moment, that feeling, that mindset you have when you graduate from Art School, ready to conquer the world with your art and your vision. I have been learning new-ish mediums and combinations that are different than what is taught in Art School. You learn the avant-garde, but you are taught in the classical tradition.
“You have to learn the rules of a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” ~Pablo Picasso
So the big thing that I’ve done is I’ve gone on a learning quest of the business of being an artist in this day, this age. Gallery representation is, or at least can be, important to being successful. But in this past decade, especially since the pandemic, everyone learned new ways of connecting as the world locked down in our homes. We made online selling, marketing, and giving to one-another, an incredible thing like never before seen as far as creatives go. I’ve poured over books, read articles, taken seminars and classes, free as well as purchased. It’s all coming together at once for me. I am launching my Art business in every direction, all at once. This is a very ‘me’ thing to do, as many of you who have known me for a while can attest to. I research, study, and then dive in with both feet, giving it all my all.
This started almost 2 years ago now, when my husband and I bought this house. It needed a lot of upgrades but is fantastically fitting our family more than any of our other homes have. I have a teenaged son, my husband has two girls, a tween and a school-aged one. But of course the highlight of the family is our pet rabbit Jasper. He is a superstar bunny, although getting to the back end of middle-aged and always a character. And, Jasper hyphenates, I chose not to. Sorry, I say that one a lot because I find it pretty funny. We have 5 people with vastly different interests, projects, and businesses. I have my Art Studio I have always wanted in home, right next to my husband’s computer lab. Our home is an eclectic collection of musical instruments, books, plants, technological devices of all sorts, art, toys, and tools and supplies for art and whatever the rest of these guys do other than art.
I am soon to launch a newsletter, a website selling my originals and prints of my work, a podcast, a YouTube channel, and I would like to write a book.
I’m learning video and audio recording and editing. Website creation and launching is a bit different than when I was doing that as a Realtor in the mid-2000’s. It’s harder and easier at the same time, again different. Email newsletters are also different, due to the times, as well as Artist versus Realtor mindset and business.
I have dipped my toes into my social media presence and my writing on Substack. Look for all of these things as they roll out, I am giving it my all across the board. This year will be great!
This year, 2024, I’ve am having a Big-Bang moment as world’s are coming into their own. Colliding. A wonderful explosion of creativity. Spring. The earth renews, as does my artistic path. My Big-Bang moment, coming to fruition.
Thanks for spending this time with me here! We will connect in my next one!
‘Til next time, Elizabeth
