And so it begins, I am ready.
I am making the jump from a studio artist to a studio artist with a social/business presence, and without a parachute.
I have been taking in so much as I started a new life after my child was born. I’d changed. We started new, the two of us. I lost parts of myself in the era of my first marriage, important parts, and I needed to get them back. It seemed like so much time was wasted, so much had changed. I needed to emerge changed again, back to me but also totally better.
Although my during and after college self saw myself as a college art professor, I decided to start Grad School to get my MBA in Art Administration. My son was a toddler, and I was going to work in a museum or gallery. Two semesters in I had an epiphany about the debt I would take on, so I left that idea behind. I realized this was a long way around again, and why was I again making this so hard? Instead of following my first and lifelong love of being an artist, I was getting off track once again. I needed to jump right in, head on. I had to do the work to get back to my dream of being a professional, studio artist, but don’t make it hard for myself AGAIN.
As my little guy starts to emerge into a man, I can finally jump in, both feet. My husband (his stepfather) and I have raised a little renaissance man (is a 6’2” teen still little?).
I see this looking a little different than I previously did. The world is different and the idealized professional artist notion I had for myself after my BFA looks so different and more varied. All of the new venues and paths to consider. I am taking the leap into the social, online aspects after taking time to study, prepare, reflect. My husband is my cheerleader, as I am his.
I will be offering writing on thoughts and observations. Art is the personal journey of all humanity and I will be discussing my perception of it and in it.
I will post more and more often as I get my groove. If you love all things art, you’re in the right place.
