The Monthly Round-Up is where I share an overview of the past month and highlight any projects, happenings, art life, and life in general that I think will be of interest. I enjoy and share the season, weather, and cultural changes of each month. At the end I’ll share with you what’s coming up in the new month.
I’m a year in now to going full-time, professional Artist. It all began with my Instagram, Substack, Website, and making professional business accounts for Facebook and Pinterest. That gets rounded up by my 1 year Youtube Artist account this coming July. I took the final steps between March and July of 2024 to go for it. Life excuses since finishing my BFA have always been my security blanket. Exposing yourself in such a public manner via internet is such a vulnerable place to put yourself into.
I’ve never looked back and am so much better for it.
I think that many Artists find themselves in the same shoes as I did, selling paintings here and there, sharing in a guarded way, afraid of putting ourselves out there in a naked spotlight. Am I leary of internet trolls, nasty people out to share their misery with the world, scam-artists, copyright infringement, etc. Yes, very much so. I’ll be the first to describe myself as thin-skinned and wearing my heart on my sleeve when I let my guard down. But in that vein also, the rewards are real, doing what you know you were meant to do your whole-life. Everything has lead to this moment moving forward. And we can take all the ‘lost time’ before taking the leap as life-long education and the lessons we take from that time as patchwork on the quilt that makes us exactly who we are in this very moment.
My ten words for this very moment:
Community. Fulfilment. The road less taken. Drive. Destiny. Passion. Silent lucidity. Determination. Serendipity. Wabi-Sabi.
I published some articles in April here on Substack, if you missed them or would like to revisit them:
I hope this finds you well. Take care of yourselves and one another.
Until next time, Cheers! Elizabeth
