Still Moving Along The Holiday Season.
Monthly Round-up #7 | December 2024-Welcoming January/Welcoming 2025

The Monthly Round-Up is where I share an overview of the past month and highlight any projects, happenings, art life, and life in general that I think will be of interest. I enjoy and share the season, weather, and cultural changes of each month. At the end I’ll share with you what’s coming up in the new month.
December 2024 was a whirlwind of life and weather. So a typical December. There were warm days in the 40’s(F), near 0(F) and a couple of snow days thrown in. It’s been picturesque. As the Holidays continued, the kids were off from school and all that it entails. But, I’m glad 2024 is in the past now; here's to 2025!
I posted a few videos on YouTube, in case you missed them you can check them out.

Pushing Myself for Artistic Accountability
I had two procedures on my neck within 2 weeks of one another, so I was not very artistically prolific in the studio or making YouTube or Substack content.
I decided the best way to stay active with art was to do not one, but three December Art Challenges. I participated for the second year in a row in Carve December for 31 days, and like Inktober, I was completely out of my comfort zone being a painter. I get so much out of those, pushing myself, getting better at the medium as the month progresses. It’s a learning curve and I’m there for it.
The other two December Art Challenges I participated in were much more up my alley with colored pencil, watercolors and other paints and drawing supplies as needed. The first one was Watercolor & Drawing December Doodlewash Art Challenge for 31 days. The second was the Twelve Days of Artmas Painting & Drawing Art Challenge. The Twelve Days of Artmas was every two days until December 24th.I did find it hard with my physical limitations from my procedures and took my time, other prompts were not as finished as they could be. I made a video for each and posted them on YouTube as Sketchbook Tours with explanations of my materials and thought processes. You can check them out below. They’re short videos and I show you the good, the bad, and the ugly!
I wrote some Substack blog posts in December, as well. If you missed them or would like to check them out again, here they are.

A Still Life With Soft Pastels
My husband and I have been doing some more finishing touches on the Art Studio and it gets more towards my vision with each change/addition. The counter tops are now finished so I have more space to work on, as well as some additional shelves for storage.
My son is a Senior in High School this year and is as busy as any 17 year old is at that point in life. He marched in the Holiday Parade, he’s part of a community band at the college here in town, participated in performing in a polka band with his music teacher, cantoring for the Church, and had a fantastic Holiday Concert, being in both the Choir and the Band. All of this on top of his Life Guard job. My step-daughter is in Middle School and had a band performance as well, fun! Our kittens are now 8 months old and growing fast, acclimating and assimilating into the family.
This is last week, as the boys guard the yard from the riff-raff.

My Pinterest is a catalog of all the consequential Artists, female Artists forgotten or overshadowed for their time, and my favorite Artists and pieces. It also lets you know when I’ve put out new content.
I hope this finds you well. I wish you all the best for the new year. Take care of yourselves and one another!
Cheers! Elizabeth
